Your insurance contract
Your policy is effective from the date specified on your certificate. You can defer the start of your policy for up to 12 months.
If you move, the old and the new houses are both covered for 60 days under the same policy. You’ll be asked to provide a multiple-risk home insurance certificate:
- when you sign your purchase agreement with the solicitor if you’re buying a home
- when you sign the tenancy agreement and the schedule of fixtures if you rent
The length of your contract
Your policy contract lasts for 12 months.
How to make a claim
You must report an incident as soon as possible. At the latest:
- within 2 working days for a robbery
- within 10 days of an officially confirmed natural disaster
- within 5 working days in other situations
If you can’t give us bills for any work or replacements, please provide other evidence. This can include pictures, family testimonies, accounts statements or pro forma bills (especially for luxury purchases).
You can request a cash advance in the event of a significant disaster. This may be awarded immediately after one of our experts has inspected the damage. You can also declare your claim by email.
